BET - Top 10 Rappers of the 21st Century....Who Made The List

BET’s "Top 10 Rappers of the 21st Century" is a fierce, no-holds-barred, hour-long special that reveals the ultimate Top 10 List of the last decade’s hottest rappers, whose careers blew up from 1999 to today.

BET’s "Top 10 Rappers" is the definitive hip-hop countdown by the ground-breaking network that gave love to hip-hop before anyone else dared.
BET threw open nominations to BET digital followers, industry bloggers and other social influencers (our “Grand Jury”). More than 25,000 votes later, they returned a Top 15 list of rappers for consideration. Now, our“Hip-Hop Supreme Court” is convening to vote on the final Top Ten, based on a rapper’s: flow, lyrics, subject matter, cultural impact, dough, and as needed in the arsenal of a 21st Century rapper –digital skills (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, their own website, etc.).

The Court represents all of the regions of the country, and consists of nine select industry insiders – many of whom were raised on hip-hop:
Jermaine Dupri (Producer - ATL); Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur (AllHipHop.com); Boy 1da (Producer);DJ Diamond Kuts (Power 99 FM - Philadelphia); DJ Greg Street (V103 - ATL); Tony Neal (CEO, Core DJs); DJ Timbuck2 (107.5 WGCI – Chicago); Chloe Hilliard (Managing Editor/Social Media Manager, Vibe Magazine - NYC); and DJ Vlad (VladTV.com - NYC).

In their technologically tricked-out courtroom, the Court is led by the
Justice – Big Tigger, who takes them through the debates and discussions about each of their own Top 10 rankings. Live votes allow Court members to sway each others’ minds about their original Top 10 Lists with each countdown position!
The Top 10
# 1 Eminem
Selling more records than anyone on the list, Eminem is not only praised for his commercial success, but is highly respected by his peers for his skill.
# 2 Lil Wayne
Lil' Wayne is a rock star. The Young Money Millionaire has shown the most growth in the 21st century.
# 3 Kanye West
The highly successful rapper/producer Kanye West is more than just a rapper. But the level of his rap game has been elevated since his debut.
# 4 50 Cent
In less than 10 years, 50 Cent has released four albums, three of which have gone platinum (or in some cases, multi-platinum). This controversial rapper has consistently put out hits.
# 5 T.I.
ATL-native T.I. may be controversial in his actions, but when it comes to rap, this MC has got the South on lock
# 6 Ludacris
It's hard to talk about the 21st century without mentioning Ludacris. The Atlanta-based rapper is arguably one of the most consistent when it comes to the quality of his music.
# 7 Drake
Aubrey "Drake" Graham has managed to win over the hearts of hip hop fans this past year. After releasing his debut album, "Thank Me Later," Drake has shown that he is the one to watch
# 8 Young Jeezy
Young Jeezy bumps in every whip, from the North to the South. This Southern MC is respected for his hardcore delivery and thug narratives.
# 9 Jadakiss
Jadakiss has always been praised for his complex rhymes and the meaning behind his words.
# 10 Officer Rick Ross
Rick Ross bossed up the game in the 21st century. He is one of the few rappers to survive a 50 Cent rivalry by continuing to put out quality music

So there you have it. What do you guys think of the list? Who should have been left off and who should have made it in their place?

T.I. Saves a Distressed Man from Committing Suicide

Rapper T.I. helped talk a suicidal man out of jumping off of a building in downtown Atlanta earlier this evening (October 13th).

The bizarre incident unfolded when police received a 9-1-1 call from a man who was going to jump off the roof of the building where V-103 host Ryan Cameron hosts his popular daily show.

According to reports, T.I. called into Cameron's show upon hearing the news about the distressed man and offered his assistance in an attempt to diffuse the situation.

Ryan Cameron invited T.I. to come over to the building, where the rap star met with police. T.I. recorded a video message pleading with the man not to take his life.

According to
TMZ.com, police played the video to the man, who agreed to step off of the ledge when he saw the rapper's message. T.I. and the man met in the building's lobby where they worked things out.

Police have not charged the man with any crime.

Birdman Caught Lying???

This writer Armando Salguero (click here for full post) went in on Birdman and for good reason. He did his research on Baby and say Baby lied about being an owner of theMiami Dolphins. Maybe Baby found another way in his ownership like the oil game?
Ross: Birdman not bird of a feather
Why do people lie?

I mean, don't they understand eventually the truth comes out, especially if the lie is national news?

In the previous post I shared with you that rapper and music executive Bryan Williams, who goes by the handle Birdman, said on a national radio show that he was awaiting NFL approval to become a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins.

Not to take Birdman's word, with all due respect, I called the NFL to ask what the deal is with Birdman. A spokesman told me the league has no knowledge of any approval process for Birdman.

And there's a good reason for that. Birdman apparently isn't at all involved in the very approval process he said he was, according to Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

"I have NEVER spoken to him or any representative," Ross said in a statement released by the team. "Not considering or looking for any celebrity limited partners."

That is interesting on multiple levels. First, it shoots Birdman out of the sky.

Secondly, it means Ross is taking a break from the search for more celebs to fill his suites and walk the orange carpet at Sun Life Stadium.

Finally, a note to Birdman: Thanks for the wild goose chase.

Waka Flocka affiliate Ra Diggs "Bragging" on Twitter, Now Facing Criminal Charges

Ronald Herron. who refers to himself as Ra Diggs when he is behind a microphone, was a little over eager to share about his lavish lifestyle funded by robberies, drugs and other criminal acts and may have landed himself in prison for a very long time.  Ra Diggs is part of the crew "Murder Team" along with Wacka Flocka and Uncle Murda.

A rapper who boasted on Twitter about beating a murder rap is a violent drug kingpin who flooded Brooklyn’s Gowanus Houses with crack and heroin, the feds said Wednesday.

Ronald (Ra Diggs) Herron, charged with eight others in a federal indictment, provided prosecutors with a wealth of incriminating evidence in his YouTube videos and in his Twitter musings.

He tweeted that he has “5000 n—– with them lorcins [handguns] ready to turn the pigs kids into orphins,” federal court papers reveal.

The videos depict the ex-con wearing body armor and brazenly firing guns at a target range.

In them, he boasts he ordered a shooting from his hospital bed and “beat a body” – a reference to his 2002 murder acquittal after two witnesses were threatened and refused to testify against him.

Herron warned against people “snitching” and mentioned a murder in the Gowanus Houses housing project of a victim who reportedly helped authorities, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shreve Ariail and Carter Burwell said.

Drake - I Get Lonely Too

Drake needs Security?? & preps R&B Mixtape

Hip-Hop star Drake commented on the pressures of success during a recent interview with Katie Couric last night (October 5th) on CBS.

The rap star touched on a number of topics, including his future plans, his rise to success, his acting career and how he handles being a world-famous entertainer.

"I must say that It is all surreal to me on a daily basis," stated Drake, who reminisced of the days before he topped the charts and became a household name.

"I remember it like yesterday that i used to drive by myself in my
Acura and was able to go anywhere, to the mall by myself," Drake continued. "The way you end up missing anonymity is very interesting."

Drake revealed that his success has forced him to beef up security.

In recent weeks, a member of the rapper's entourage was accused of striking a man named Jeremis Soriano, who claimed he was assaulted and injured by a body guard for Drake after a concert.

Drake addressed the issue of security during the interview, stating that is was a necessary evil and a precaution for his own safety.

"The weirdest part is always having to have security," Drake explained. "Sometimes I just want to hop in a cab, or walk up the street and get an iced tea or something by myself. Then it comes a time where you do it and sometimes you realize why you shouldn't [try to go alone] whether, it be [being] bombarded with pictures, or where its more negative. I've had situations have to be me where things have happened. People have tried to get at me in ways where its a little scary. And you realize you do need that security around you."

Drake is currently putting the finishing touches on
It's Never Enough, his upcoming R&B mixtape.
